Door Panels Outer, Replacing

Replacing the front door panel

  • Grind the edges of the door panel.
  • Cut the door panel where it meets the door arch at rear edge.
  • Cut above the mounting for the door mirror at the front edge.
  • Pry off the door panel.
  • The door panel is bonded in the frame and in the collision member.
  • Remove the door panel.
  • Use a knife on the collision member.
  • Align the door panel.
  • Apply PUR adhesive to the collision member.

  • Apply bodywork adhesive 1161524 to the door panel.
  • Align the frame in the door panel.
  • Secure using two tack welds in the door arches.
  • Turn the edge.

  • Turn the edge behind the door mirror mounting.
  • Weld the door panel in the door arch.

Replacing the rear side door panel

  • Grind the edges and break the door panel free.
  • Cut the door arch 200 mm above the door panel at the rear edge as illustrated.
  • Cut the door panel where it meets the door mirror at the front edge.

Rear door:

  • Apply bodywork adhesive to the door panel.
  • Secure frame in door panel.
  • Secure using two tack welds in the arches.
  • Turn the edge.

  • Turn over the edge at the frame.
  • Weld into place.

Notes

Window Lift Mechanism Front Side Door, Replacing

Replacing the power window mechanism

Open the window half way.
Remove the side panel and run-off profile. See Replacing the
front door side panel.
Detach the retaining clips for the window and lift mechanism.
Press the window to the uppermost position. Secure it with tape.

NOTE: The mechanism is correctly positioned for removal when the holes in the mechanism and in the arm are opposite each other.



NOTE: See Removing rivet.

  • Remove the four mounting elements
  • Remove the blind rivet.
  • (Screws or blind rivets)
  • Lift out the lift mechanism
  • Disconnect the connector.

Installation

Install:
In reverse order.



NOTE: Install new rivets in the numerical order illustrated.

Initializing the window position
The window position must be initialized after installation.

Ignition on.
Initialize. See Checking the power window mechanism: Initializing the window position.

  • the power window mechanism
  • the three screws
  • the lift mechanism motor.

Installing the electric motor for the power window

Install:
In reverse order.

how do you get the glass up and out of the way to get to them?

you will have to drill out the rivots in the regulator, then lift up the whole window and regulator to get to the bolts on the glass,Tim
