Where is the fuel filter (petrol) located on a 2005 Volvo V70 2.0T and how is it removed?

Hi there the fuel filter on your car is located under the passenger side rear door on the bottom side of the car, what you have to do first is drain off the residuale pressure out of the line that way there is not alot of fuel pressure when you remove the filter, the filter has a 10mm or 12mm bolt that holds the strap in place and then you remove the lines it has a line on each end that you push the line in and push the tabs on each side and then the line will pull off, the filter is directional so make sure the arrow goes toward the front of the car when re-installing, these are derections for the plastic tank, if your car has a metal fuel tank it will be silver in color than the filter is on the end of the fuel pump and can not be replaced is lifetime, Thank you

And how do I drain off the residual pressure out of the line?

Sorry about that, here is a diagram but you have to hook up a fuel gauge to the fuel rail and then drain the fuel pressure, here is the diagram
