I didn't expect you to answer to quickly - need to go find my camera.
JA: What's the exact make and model of the camera? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: I'm sorry, I'll have to get back to you.
JA: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: My camera is a VG-140/D-710, and I bought it in Germany in 2011. The zoom wasn't working but I took it on vacation. Right in the middle of taking pictures, the display screen went black - as if the lens wasn't opening.

Can you remove the battery please then hold the shutter button down for 60 seconds then release.

Wait 5 minutes, put the battery back in and turn it on.
