Have you tried using another battery?

Have you checked for contamination on the battery contact terminals?

If that doesn't work, and the battery tests good, then there is likely a bad solder joint or other electrical connection inside the camera - a Nikon service center can quickly test and repair this type of fault if you return it through your local Nikon dealer or online at:
