Customer Question

My D50 has a CHA error message. I have changed the battery, put in a new card and it is still happening. Any suggestions?
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: Nikon D50
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Changed batteries, changed SD card and blew compressed air into the card slot. It has been like this for a while and I have been unable to take pictures
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: That is all I have right now.

I went down to an 8 mb SD card from a 16 mb. I still get the CHA error
Expert:  Rusty replied 1 month ago.

8 and 16GB cards use the same file system. Will it allow you to format the card?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
How do I format the card?
Expert:  Rusty replied 1 month ago.

In your menu, go to the setup menu, and select format. It's possible the cards have a different file system that isn't recognized by the camera. Format will give it a new file system.

Expert:  Rusty replied 1 month ago.

It will erase the card, so back up the data first.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
It allows formatting but it still has CHA when it completes the process

Is the camera new, used, or have you had it for a while?
