Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.
Try a different memory card, for sure. If the memory card you are getting the error with is new and has nothing on it, please re-format that memory card (which will erase it, in case you might have overlooked anything that was stored on it - mind, after re-formatting, whatever was on it will be gone.)
If it comes up with MEMORY CARD ERROR with several memory cards, and esp. if it comes up with that error with memory cards that have worked fine in this camera before this, then your camera's memory card slot is, most likely, defective.
Replacing a memory card slot is a modular repair that, however, requires a specialty shop that not only has the parts for that, but also the fine tools and expertise that are vitally needed to repair a digital camera with fine components, without breaking or ruining the camera's delicate and finely put-together components of various types.
If you would like to have Canon repair it (their reputation is good, at repairing their own cameras with good quality and rapid-enough turnaround time on the repair work), just call
or go to this web page:
and scroll down to, and click on, the rectangle for 'REQUEST PRODUCT REPAIR'.
