1:1.46 My Nikon AF S 50MM 1:1.4 G lens will not auto focus.

Customer Question

1:1.46 Hi, My Nikon AF S 50MM 1:1.4 G lens will not auto focus. I bought it in 2015 from B&H and have not used it too often but it worked and stopped working last week. It works in manual. Anything to suggest or should I send it back for repair?
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: I thought I answered that. It is a Nikon AF S 50 mm 1:1.4 G purchased from B and H in February of 2014.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: For one week. I tried turning it on and off and from manual to auto and back as was suggested online. It still does not autofocus.
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No. That is it.

Ensure the electronic contacts on the lens body are clean and also the contacts on the camera body are clean too.

Ensure the lens is connected securely and correctly to the camera body.

If you still have a problem after cleaning and reconnecting, test the lens on a different camera body.

If the lens has the same problem on several camera bodies then it will require a repair.
