I have a sunny DCR-DVD 905E which I used recently to record

Customer Question

hello Pearl
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: I have a sunny DCR-DVD 905E which I used recently to record some mini DVDs. It is quite an old machine and I am trying to save the mini DVDs to 12 cm DVDs. I am finding that the VOB file format in which the video camera records will not play on my Panasonic blue Ray DVD player/recorder.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I have found Movavi Video Converter and wonder whether I should convert the VOB files. If so, what format should I use.
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: not that I can think of. Thank you for your assistance.

Hello. My name is Michel. I can help you with your question.

In order to play the DVD on a regular DVD player like you are trying to do, the disk must be finalized. This will be an option on the camera or, if you are creating the DVD with software, it will be an option in the software. You will not be able to just copy the VOB files and have them play. You must make an entire disk (sometimes called a disc-at-once) copy to make an exact copy of the finalized disk. If you are creating it from video clips in software, then when you burn the disk, you must select the option to finalize the disc after burning it. Please let me know if you still have questions.

I feel you have not fully understood my problem. The mini DVD discs I created on my Sony DCR-DVD905E video camera have been finalised. What I am trying to do is to burn them to a 12 cm DVD so that I can share them with others who will be able to play them on their DVD players.
I have copied them from the mini DVD discs to my PC and have used the BurnAware program to burn them to a 12 cm disc. When I do this, the new 12 cm DVD is not recognised by my Panasonic's DMR-PWT500 Blu-ray player/HDD recorder although still photographs I have burned onto the same disc are recognised. I do not want to create a number of DVDs for others only to find that they cannot play the videos I have created.
Searching the Internet, I found the Movavi video converter program which promises to fix the problems for me but I do not know whether this is a good program nor do I know Whether to convert the VOB files to AVI or some other format. I cannot find any setting on the camera in which to record new videos.
I should be grateful for your advice on these points.
