Hello there and welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you today. I am an engineer with over 30 years of electrical and electronic training, repair and installation experience. I will try and answer your question accurately and precisely so that we can get you on your way.

We need to figure out if the dust is on the lens or on the sensor.

Do you have an additional lens? If so, do you get the same specs on your photos when you use that lens?

Let me know.

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
I only use it with one lens and it appears on all pics - little dark specs on the pics - I am using a Cannon Macro lens EF 100mm
1:2.8. So close up pics show these.

Can you take the lens off the camera and look carefully to see if the specs of dirt are on, or in the lens elements?

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
I took it off and saw a black spec on the lens system and the mirror looks to have some debris on it as well - I have not touched it or use air or anything on it.I wanted to know how to clean it and if there is a video to clean it in the future to maintain it.
Expert:  Steve G. replied 12 days ago.

You can use a soft cloth or camera brush on the lens and on the mirror. You can also use canned air and blow it out. CLICK HERE for a video. He is cleaning a Nikon but the methodology would be identical.

If the dust is inside the lens, then the lens will have to be professionally dismantled and cleaned.

Please let me know if you have any further questions and good luck.
