I have a canon 1D mrk II - I cannot format the SD card - is

Customer Question

I have a canon 1D mrk II - I cannot format the SD card - is that a software fix or do I need to send it ibn?
JA: What's the make/model of your camera? How old is it?
Customer: 1D Mark II - maybe 10 years or so
JA: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I had not used the camera in a very long time - it is my wedding backup camera - I don't have the camera in front of me at the moment but it was like the camera couldn't see the card. I tried turning it off and on several times, I cleared the card suing my computer. Nothing - I have read fro m others that this is a common problem
JA: Anything else you want the camera expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: no that's it

Hi there. My name is*****'m sorry that you're having this problem. I'll do my best to help. Have you checked to see if the slide switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position? If the write-protect switch is on the camera will not be able to format the card or even delete anything from it. Do you get an error message when trying to format it? Have you tried a different card in case this one is damaged?
