Customer Question

Hi. I own a Finepix S9950, that I dearly love. I am still learning all the wonderful features of this camera, and need a little help with the Macros setting. I have no idea what I did to achieve it, but for awhile, I could set the camera for Macros (not Super Macros), and then when I went to focus on my subject, I could zoom in.... and then, when the lens was fully extended, the camera would zoom in a little more. However, something happened to my camera settings.....and now I can't figure out how to make that "little bit extra" zoom happen. Now when it is in Macros, with the lens fully extended there is no "little bit extra". I'm sorry I don't know how to explain it better. I'm a rank amateur and don't even really know the language of cameras.
JA: What's the exact make and model of the camera? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: Fine Pix S9950W. I've owned it for about a year. I bought it refurbished.
JA: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I'm not sure what happened. Perhaps I inadvertently changed a setting or something. I turned my camera on yesterday, and the prompt to set the date and time came up. I don't know why. I reset the date and time, and then I went through the shooting menu trying to figure out if anything else had changed. I didn't notice anything right of the bat. Just a little while later I realized that Macros was behaving differently.
JA: Anything else you want the camera expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not that I know of.... Thank you so much, for your help!

Hi there and welcome

What you are referring to is Digital Zoom, which is the additional zoom it does after it has done the full extent of the optical zoom.

Can you remove the battery please then hold the shutter button down for 60 seconds then release.

Wait 5 minutes, put the battery back in and try to turn it on.

Then tell me if it performs correctly in Macro mode.

Thank you
