Customer Question

My panasonic lumix dmc zs40 fell forward on tripod. landed on ground. Front of zoom casing dented on wooden floor. Now will not retract. Camera inoperable. Is cost of repair worth it...?
JA: What's the exact make and model of the camera? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: panasonic lumix dmc zs40, is less than 1 year old.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Happened since 2 days. There is no troubleshooting, camera inoperable. Needs disassembly, and new front outer cover to lens.

Sorry to hear that, actually the lens mechanism has been damaged internally and it is not a simple dent matter on metal housing, entire lens assembly will be replaced in camera to resolve the problem. Since camera is less than a year old so it might be still under warranty, please check camera receipt to confirm it as usually camera comes with 12 months warranty. I am really sorry about the lens damage and you are going to have to return the camera to the store to have it replaced. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you OR contact Panasonic number written on warranty card came with camera to get in-warranty repair.

If store or Panasonic refuse the warranty repair then check with following camera repair facility to get repair quote that will help to make decision about this camera repair or invest that money on new camera..
