I have a Cannon Powershot SX30IS. It has stopped connecting

Customer Question

I have a Cannon Powershot SX30IS. It has stopped connecting to the computer to down load images. I suspect the boot is defective but not sure. Is this something that goes bad? Can it be repaired?

Hello and thank you for your question. I look forward to assisting you today. Can you tell me please what version of Windows you are using and if you recently installed any new software or updates?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Windows 7 but I'm not sure if I have had any new updates

Okay thank you. Do you have the Canon software installed? Also, when you connect the camera, do you have it turned off?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I have the software installed and yes I have the camera off when I connect it to the computer then turn it on but it doesn't connect with the computer

If your computer has a media port, you can remove the SD card from the camera and insert it into the port on the computer and copy your photos directly. If not, we may need to look at reinstalling the Canon software.
