Customer Question

I have a digital picture frame (SP70EWB) and I am trying to add pictures on it for my girlfriend and I am having problems. I saved the pictures on a Memory card that fits in this frame but I am not able to view the pictures on the frame.
I have tried to see if I could put the memory card in another way but it would never fit any other way.
I am stuck and I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

I am researching the specifications of your Digital Picture Frame model.

It is my thought at this time, that the memory card may not be being read properly.

Also another question is, what sort of image files are you trying to view on the digital picture frame's screen? what image file type(s) are the picture files on the memory card?

Expert:  Russell H. replied 3 months ago.

The only image file types this picture frame model can display, are the JPEG type of photo file.

BMP (Bitmap), PNG, and GIF files cannot be viewed on it, nor displayed.

As for the memory card - this frame is quite flexible, and can read these types:

Does it seem that the files are there, but they will not display?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.

Yes I see the pictures when I have the chip in my computer but in the frame I get nothing. it can't find the chip (or disc).

Do I need a special program to save the pictures as JPEG type of photo file?

Expert:  Russell H. replied 3 months ago.

No, JPEG files are nothing special. I just mentioned that because the frame cannot display any other file type.

If your frame cannot see the chip or disc (memory card), then please tell me

1. what type of memory card is it, or what does it say on it aside from the brand name and perhaps the 'lock' legened next to the lock switch ?

2. and what is the memory card's 'capacity' or 'total size' ?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.

I showed the frame to a person in the store and he told me to get a SanDisk SDHC Card 32gb

Expert:  Russell H. replied 3 months ago.

32 GB might be rather large for this frame. (Unfortunately the listed Specifications I found for it did not mention what sizes of memory card it can read files off of.

32 GB is a lot of space, unless you are storing a great many very high-definition photographs, or storing and displaying video (which this frame cannot display.)

I think you should try a smaller size of SD card, such as 4 GB. Above that, it is uncertain that every device, esp. older or cheaper devices, will be able to read and use the memory card.

So I recommend trying a 4 GB or smaller SD card, in this frame. I suspect that is what is wrong.

Tell me what you think, in Reply To Expert.

Customer: replied 3 months ago.

Ok I will try that. My girlfriend gave me this frame and I wanted to fix it for her and I never saw one like this before. I have a different one that was easy to put pictures on.

Thanks for your help. I will try to get one of these 4 GB SD cards and see what happens.

Expert:  Russell H. replied 3 months ago.

OK. I'm glad you are going to try what, from my knowledge and experience, would be sensible.

Since the frame is a gift, it might be fairly 'old' i.e. (in digital electronics terms) several years old, and thus one of the older devices that cannot read memory card formats above the 4 GB type.

Would you like to close this question, or leave it open until you have tried the smaller memory card you are going to get?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.

Can I keep this open? That would be great because I won't be able to do this until tomorrow at the earliest but I may not be able to get to it until Friday.

If I can keep this open..that would be great. Thanks again.

Expert:  Russell H. replied 3 months ago.

OK, that's fine. Until Friday or Saturday, or whenever would be convenient for you.
