I have a Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 ed and it doesn't now

Customer Question

I have a Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 ed and it doesn't now work because I have OS X 10.11.5 using Silverfast 8. Silverfast requires the latest firmware, which I cannot get because Nikon doesn't support the scanner for my OS.

Are you sure the software does not need updating not the scanner? Go here and put in your serial to check for updates: https://www.silverfast.com/get_update/en.html

Customer: replied 11 months ago.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.

I have always been told the firmware updates are dangerousNow
Without any suggestion that I should have updatedThe scanner does not work because of it

No they are not "dangerous" ...

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
They require Nikon scan software which is not available for my OS

OK yes very odd that the Mac download is for Windows, sorry about that. Unfortunately then you will have to borrow a PC from a friend and update the firmware that way. You can run windows on your Mac too using Bootcamp or a Paralles.
