I just purchased an Olympus OMD e m5 II and Fl 600 flash.

Customer Question

I just purchased an Olympus OMD e m5 Mark II and Fl 600 flash. How do I set my camera to a TTL position so that they can chat? Also when I turn my flash on , it just keeps flashing every 3 seconds. I have been playing with it. … did I break it?

Hi. My name is*****'m a camera repair technician with almost 30 years in the business and I'll be glad to help you with your question today.

All you need to do is set the camera to TTL in the flash control portion in the menu. There may even be a setting that turns off the pre-flash or flash-focus assistance. Be sure the flash itself is set to TTL or ETTL as well. I've never actually seen a flash that has a setting to produce the effect you're describing. Also, I've repaired many Nikon cameras that ha produced random firing. They had defective hot shoes an needed to be replaced. Is the problem you describe random or consistently spaced

In my flash control portion of the menu the only options I can find are Auto, auto red eye reduction, fill in flash, flash off, slow synchronization, slow synchronization (1st curtain), slow synchronization(2nd curtain), and manual. I also cannot find anything in either manual (FL-600R flash or Olympus OMD E-M5 Mark II) that mentions TTL. I shot a family on the beach with the camera set to Auto in the Program mode and there was a problem with the flash (the shutter speed was too fast to sync with the flash). The flash, which I just turned on as I began to write this, is still flashing consistently about ever 2.5 seconds. Any ideas? I just bought this whole system.. camera, 2 lenses (pro) and the recommended Olympus flash … and Sammy's camera is notorious for not picking up the phone ( I am 150 miles away from them.) thanks, colleen

Hi Colleen. does the flash fire on its own when not attached to the camera?
