My Canon Powershot SX530HS got wet during a recent trip.

Customer Question

My Canon Powershot SX530HS got wet during a recent trip. Sadly, we DID try to turn it back on- several times! (after removing the battery and memory card) We dried the camera and continued to try turning it on. We allowed (well, now nearly a week) time, put it in a warm and dry place, etc. However, when we attempt to turn it on, the little green light which is slightly below and to the left of the "review" button blinks, but nothing happens. Can you help?

Hello and thank you for your question, I look forward to assisting you today. Powering it up before it is completely dry will likely due more damage. The only real way to dry it out is to put the camera in a zip lock bag and cover it with dry white rice. That will draw out any moisture left inside the camera. Make sure you have the battery out with the hatch open. You should leave the camera in the bag for around a week before you try powering it on.
