I have a new D810, month old, I now have two 32 GB SD cards

Customer Question

I have a new D810, month old, I now have two 32 GB SD cards full. The 810 will not delete the images or reformat to do so. Hide or Unhide doesn't make a difference. Camera recognizes the SD card is either writable or not.
Help.

Hello and welcome to justanswer, my name is ***** ***** i will be assisting you today,

I'm sorry about the issue, What is happening when you attempt to delete the images from the camera?

Do you have a SD reader on your computer?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I gave you these details in my original question. When I try to delete images from the SD card using the "delete images" in the camera menu nothing happens. Yes, I have a card reader on my computer.
Expert:  Mr.Med replied 6 months ago.

Please Insert the SD card into your computer's card reader. Open your card folder and select images you want to delete.

let me know if you need further help.

Thank you

I knew this was going to be a crock of bull, I know how to do that. You didn't answer my question, you didn't address my camera, that is where the issue is. Looks like I have been screwed out of $39.00Your information says "100% Satisfaction", If there was a way to rate your response I couldn't give you "One Star"

Hello, My name is***** hope that I can help you with your question. Please look at the SD cards and confirm that the slide on the side that will lock the memory is not locked. If it is unlocked, please slide to locked and then unlocked. What brand/model is the memory? For example, I use Sandisk Extreme Pro.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
What do you think I am a dummy the SD caeds a writable and not locked. My question is not a computer question a D 810 is a camera, Nikon D810. Mybe I need to teach you, get with it.
Expert:  Rylan Sharpe replied 6 months ago.

Hello, thank you again for the response. I am not questioning your intelligence by by questions, but rather starting at the basics and moving up. I understand it is not a computer question. I have been an owner of the Nikon D60, D80, D7000, D7100, D800, D810 and D3. There are many factors that can impact memory issues. For example, memory failure, memory compatibility, camera firmware, camera failure, etc. At this point I am going to release the question to other experts. I am sorry that we could not get through all the back and forth to your satisfaction.

Will look forward to seeing what they have to say.

the reason they asked about the computer is that you can get a lot more control over the cards from the computer

You might be able to delete or reformat the cards on the computer and then see if they will work in the camera

if nothing else you can see if the cards are readable by the computer and if not the problem would be the cards rather than the camera.

This is just a waste of time, you have not given me an answer after approximately 10 e-mail exchanges. NO SANCTIFICATION HERE, WANT MY MONEY BACK NOW.
Expert:  Robert M. replied 6 months ago.

you are correct. as long as you refuse to follow our instructions but demand an answer like "push the red button" it is a total waste of everybody's time.

you may email***@******.*** and request a refund. Then bring the camera in to a repair shop and watch them do exactly what we have been suggesting you try. or just sell you a new sd card and tell you the old ones are no good without even testing them.

Welcome to Justanswer.com, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to assist you.

even though the camera is new. It sounds like the cameras firmware is corrupted.

Have you tried updating the firmware yet?

This page contains the firmware update itself http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/products/176/D810.html

Once you have downloaded and installed the firmware update, test the delete function again..

Any change?

Dustin, first reasonable answer I have received from you folks, makes sense, I will do that. Let you know
Expert:  AnserGuy81 replied 6 months ago.

Not a problem. And I agree.. You should be able to delete from the camera directly.

I look forward to hearing from you when your schedule permits, to see whether the firmware update helps, or not.
