My Nikon D60 displays Error. Press shutter release button again when outdoors it does take a photo but it is very dark. Is there any way I can stop this happening.
Expert:  Michael Hannigan replied 9 months ago.
This error should clear if you remove the battery and then put the battery back in. What happens if you try taking a picture in manual mode? Are you able to get the exposure right?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Taking the battery out hasn't fixed the problem but if I use manual mode it takes a photo (rather dark) but the error message still appears. By altering the exposure compensation I can take a reasonable photo but the error message still appears.
In auto and programmed auto the error message appears and the photos are really dark and almost black. (This problem only occurs in sunlight, indoors it is perfect.)

the problem is only outdoors? That is unusual. Have you reset the configuration settings for the camera completely (from the setup menu)?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
it's only outdoors. I cannot find "configuration settings" in the setup menu. Unless it is under CSM setup menu in which case it is on full. Could I have a bit more detail please?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
In full sun the error message keeps appearing. It seems it is letting in too much light.
Expert:  Michael Hannigan replied 9 months ago.
it is the first option on the custom settings menu.
