I had stored some pictures on a memory of a friend's baby

Customer Question

I had stored some pictures on a memory of a friend's baby birth. I accidentally hit the delete button by mistake. Can these pictures be retrieved from the memory card?

Hi Carol,

I am sorry to hear about your problem.

Could you please let me know if you took out the memory card immediately after deleting the pics?

Best,

Pramit

I pressed the view button and when no images of the birth came up, I realized what I had done so I removed the memory card at that time.

All right, you will need to use a software to recover the pics. Can you connect your memory card to you computer?

Is your computer Windows based or a Mac or Linux?

Please note that there is no guarantee that the pics can be recovered, however, I will try my best to assist you in recovering them.

Actually, my computer is window based Dell and my camera is connected through an adapter wire. I cannot connect memory card to my computer directly. My memory card is still out of the camera. Telll me step by step what I need to do please.

Kindly follow the steps in the link I have provied below.

http://www.z-a-recovery.com/tutorials/digital-image-recovery.aspx

It's a free software. I will be away for a couple of hours and I will follow up with you once I am back.

Please note that this software recommends that you connect your memory card to your computer using a card reader and not the camera directly.

If required you might need to purchase a memory card reader (cost < $10).

I would like to try it without the memory card reader first. Thanks. After my first try, it did not work. I will need a card reader. Where can I get one?
Expert:  PramitP replied 9 months ago.

Did you try using the software I had suggested above?

You can get a memory card from Amazon.com

My son-in-law is an experienced photographer and he has a memory card reader and has recovered pictures in the past. He is going to help me. Thanks for your help.

That's great. You can ask him to use the software I had mentioned earlier. It includes all the steps. Let me know in case you require further help. Have a great day!
