This means usually that there is no signal from the camera. Initially, what I would do is restart the system AnD the network components. You mentioned cctv, but also IP cameras. I'm assuming they are actually IP because of the manufacturer, but correct me if that is not right.

It is ip cameras. However when viewing the cameras you can see everything. Its only when recording the playback.

Are you viewing the cameras directly, or on the DVR? If you are viewing them directly, then it may be that the DVR just isn't recording from them. Was it working previously?
