My canon S15 when I cut it on I get this message. lens Error will shut down automatically Restart Camera. What do you think is wrong with it and how much will it cost to fix it. Can I do something to fix it? I do not think it has been dropped ar did anything to damage it.

Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, the prescribed approach is to open up the lens assembly, clean and then re-lubricate the fine gearing system, re-align and re-assemble to be done in a clean/sterile room.

Still and only should you be comfortable with a hopeful workaround, fit an active vacuum hose over the lens while turning On/Off the camera a couple of times. The idea is to draw out any foreign matter such as sand, dirt, dust that may be causing the lens error.

Additionally and only should you venture to try a couple of times, gently thump the camera's bottom carefully against the palm of your hand and then attempt to power on.

Please post back how you would want to approach this and/or should additional information be needed.
