After replacing new batteries in my Fujifilm Finepix S and attemping to turn it on to review the pictures it contained, I noticed a flash, even though the flash was closed, and it will not turn on. Is this a common occurrence?

Common for me as I deal with this cameras problems all day.

There can me a couple of reasons for it.

First, to be sure, you confirmed the batteries are working, even though they are new, correct?

I did not confirm, just checked them out in another device, and found they were dead. So much for buying "bargain batteries."
