Hello my name is***** do not rate until we are finished. I look forward to assisting and am very sorry to hear that you are having this problem. Before we start I need to make sure you know this is not Nikon. This is a paid tech support site called JustAnswer, I do however work on Nikon products daily. Is the lens stuck extended? Is the camera over or under a year old? The reason I ask is the factory warranty only lasts a year so if it is over the year line it will no longer be covered by Nikon.
Is it over or under a year old? Does the lens try to extend when you turn the camera on?
That is not a good sign, but since it is under a year old you should be covered by warranty. Normally when this happens the lens assembly needs to be replaced. Call this number: 1(###) ###-####Do it before December and this should be covered by the warranty. Normally a replacement will be sent to you. Do not let them tell you to call back in a week etc, if you do the warranty will be up and it will no longer be covered even if you talked to them before. Without a warranty replacing the lens assembly can be expensive and normally it is cheaper to replace the camera itself. If you have any questions at all reply and let me know. If not please don’t forget to leave a positive rating by clicking the stars/smileys for my help - it is greatly appreciated. Please note you are rating me only not this site or your Nikon.
