I have the PowerShot sx50 HS; for 5 1/2 years. All of a sudden, the lcd screen doesn't come on when I open it. Only the view finder stays on. can you help?

Hi there Ben and welcome

Can you remove the battery and then hold the shutter button down for 60 seconds then release.

Then wait 5 minutes, put the battery back in and tell me if it now functions correctly please.

I tried your suggestion with the LCD open and closed. Neither worked. Do you have any other ideas?

It is the LCD Screen that has faulted.

A corrupted firmware can cause this. But we have ruled this out by trying to hard restart it.

I am really sorry about this and you are going to have to return the camera to have it replaced. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.
