I have an Olympus C-700 Ultra Zoom purchased new in 2001.

Customer Question

I have an Olympus C-700 Ultra Zoom purchased new in 2001. Yes, outdated but still a wonderful camera.
Problem: The door that holds the batteries in place will not stay closed. Either the shaft on the door that extends to the frame or the lock into which it fits is broken. Also, the hinge on the door is not as tight as it should be.
Question: Can this camera be repaired and if so where and at what cost, estimated?
And your comments/judgment please.
Thanks,

Hi. My name is*****'m a camera repair technician with over 20 years in the business and I'll be glad to help you with your question today.

This one's probably not going to be repairable. The problem you are describing is going to require parts, which are no longer available. If you really like that particular model, you can probably pick one up cheap on EBay or other internet resources. However, you may want to upgrade to a newer model. They all have a built-in life expectancy and yours exceeded its by far. Point and shoot cameras have a lifespan of about 5 years. After that, the manufacturer discontinues service and parts. Some parts can be found in salvages cameras and those disappear quickly,

Please provide a positive Rating so that I may be credited for my efforts.
If I can be of further assistance, please ask rather than leave a negative response.
Thank You
