Hello, my name is Rusty. Sorry to hear you're having trouble, it is likely due to the Windows 10 update. I have fixes for memory cards, it is likely the driver is unavailable for your card reader. If you know the brand of your card reader, I can see if there is an updated driver. If not, we can use an external reader, click here. This reader is compatible with Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 uses the same drivers as 8.1. Remember that when looking for drivers if you have another device that doesn't work with Windows 10.
If you're not very computer literate, drivers can be complicated, and may cause other problems on your computer. The card reader is a device that you plug your memory chip into, and the reader plugs into your computer's USB port. It will allow you to transfer the pictures exactly like you are used to.
The upgrade to Windows 10 is what messed up your reader in the first place. The one I showed you is compatible with Windows 10, and works exactly the same as you were doing before the upgrade to Windows 10.
Ok, what is the model number of your computer?
Perfect, I found your driver, click here. Download the top one, and install it. It may reboot your computer, so bookmark this page in case you can't find your way back.
Are you using Windows Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome?
Perfect! Click the star at the top right, to the right of the address bar. That will bookmark this page. To recall your bookmark, click the three horizontal lines to the right of that star, and select bookmarks. You may need to click "other bookmarks" to view.
Have you been getting email notifications of my messages? There is also a link there. If you have any questions while installing the driver, I'm here for you.
Ok, click start, then click computer. On the left pane, do you see your card's drive letter? It should show up under LOCAL DISK C:
That is possible, they don't guarantee the drivers from 8.1 will work, but they say most of them will. I've had pretty good luck with 8.1 drivers for my customers.
It's the button on the bottom left. It's the window with 4 panes.
Ok, are there any other drives other than C?
Which ones? Click on the drives, one of them should have a folder named DCIM. That one is your card, and your pictures are in the DCIM folder.
Click on SDH3, what is in that drive?
Click on it, what do you see in the right pane?
Can I do a remote session on your computer to do a thorough check?
Please go to that link.
I'm not allowed to do phone calls without an extra fee. How about this, SDHC is a memory card type. That's why I'm looking at the SDH3 drive. Are there any files in that drive?
Ok, I want you to take a look at this, it doesn't look like the 8.1 driver has worked. Click here. This is the cheapest I could find for card readers, is this within your budget? It's plug and play, just plug your card into it, and plug it into your USB port.
No, that is a third party site. We don't handle the orders, we just give advice on where to buy. That device will make your life much, much easier! It will work the way you are used to transferring pictures.
Once you add it to your cart, you'll need to give them your payment information, and shipping address.
It will allow you to send it to Facebook the exact same way that you used to. It is no different than your card reader, other than the fact that it is compatible with Windows 10.
If you are satisfied, please don't forget to rate my service with you today. Rating does not close the question, I'll be here at no extra charge if you have trouble using the card reader when you get it.
