Customer Question

The built in flash will not open and in the settings mode I get a message the "this option is not available at current settings or in the comera's current state". I probably changed something but have no idea what and how to undo it. In 90% of the time I want the flash OFF but it is now 100% and will not even open with the button beside the lense. What did I do? or set? or disable? or change? Even a local camera shop couldn't figure it out. HELP.

This is a D3200 DSLR, the camera type is listed on another page, but not with the question.
Sorry.

Hello. My name is***** will be your Primary Care Technician and I can assist you with your question.
This is something in this camera and the other Nikon cameras that can happen if you have at one point used an external flash. When you use an external flash, the electrical contacts on the shoe indicate to the camera that there is an external flash enabled and to disable the internal flash. But then, when that flash is removed, the setting does not go back to normal. So if you go into the setup menus and then into the flash settings just change the option related to whether or not there is an external flash. I don't immediately know if it is an option that says to enable the external flash or to disable the internal flash. Both of those would have the same effect. If it still doesn't work after that, please let me know.
