Customer Question

I have a Nikon s9700 and the lens is stuck and will not open. How can I correct this? The camera tries to open but I ultimately won't open and gives a Lens Error message.

Hello and thank you for your question. I look forward to assisting you today! Is the lens retracted into the body of the camera? Has it been dropped or bumped that you are aware of?

If there is no obvious damage then try this. Place you camera it on its back on a flat surface, preferably a table or other hard surface. The lens should be pointed towards the ceiling. While you are pressing and holding the shutter button down, press the power button. The camera will try to auto focus while the lens is extending, which may dislodge lens barrel and realign it.
