Customer Question

I just purchased a Canon F-1 motor drive MF; used, but in excellent physical condition. When I removed it from the shipping box I pressed the battery check light and it came on without issue. I then attached it to my Canon F-1 pressed the shutter release button the dive advanced one frame and stopped. The battery check light no longer illuminates and the drive no longer responses. I replaced the batteries and tried it on several other Canon F-1 cameras with no luck---drive and check light no longer work---can you help me to get this drive working?***@******.***

Hi. My name is***** own a small camera repair business and am a technician with over 25 years in the business. I'll be glad to help you.
Please check all battery contacts on the drive for any sign of corrosion. This is the usual cause for the problem you describe. I use a fiberglass scratch brush to clean electrical contacts and any corrosion I find. You can use a small wire brush or pencil eraser. You might also try cleaning the contacts with alcohol and a cotton swab. Make sure all surfaces are dry before installing the batteries.
