I have a Cannon Elph SD450. I am trying to insert a new memory card. The camera keeps telling me I have a memory card error. What do I need to do?

With any new card you have to first format it in the camera, go to you menu functions and look for the format option.. What size is the card, this camera is not compatible with all cards

Format is under the setup menu (Wrench)
HOWEVER... This camera is not compatible with SDHC cards which is what yours is... The maximum size SD cards can go to is 2GB I would buy a 1GB SD card and be sure to specify it must be SD and not SDHC, this is quite an old camera and with that size card you will get well over 1000 photos...
