Customer Question

I have a D5300 and three lenses. I recently replaced the 18 x 55 because I was having trouble getting the camera to take pictures (my 55 x 200 and 24 x 10 have not had a problem). I was using the 18 x 55 yesterday for landscape photos outdoors and it wouldn't take the shots. Any suggestions? I had it set on A (versus M) and the VR was in the on position.

Hello. My name is***** will be your Primary Care Technician and I can assist you with your question.
If it just wouldn't take the shots then that means it's didn't detect that the conditions were right given the parameters, to take the photo. When you have it set on automatic, it will try to set everything automatically but if it can't it will not release the shutter but it should also give you some indication in the viewfinder as to what it finds unacceptable. You should see that indicator blinking in the viewfinder. Also, I'm assuming that you were talking about having the camera set the automatic, but you may be referring to the lens. If you're referring to the lens and the A position is correct. But in order to have the lens in the a position, it will only work if the camera is also on an automatic setting.
