I have a canon power shot A1100. Never had a problem downloading

Customer Question

I have a canon power shot A1100. Never had a problem downloading pictures with Windows Vista. Now I have Windows 8.1 and I have problems. The pictures download, but I can't do anything with them. Who can help me. I love my camera.

When you say you cannot do anything with them, can you tell me what you exactly mean please? Are you getting an error message when you try to open a picture?
Thank you

Richard I've been using this Cannon Power Shot for several years and never had a problem downloading from camera to computer. There was a screen that would automatically come up and ask me a couple of questions. Then the download happened. Then I could click on each individual picture and post them online or send them to my Walgreen photo account to be developed. The Hewlett Packard I had at that time had VISTA as the operating system. I bought a new HP with a Windows 8.1 operating system. I have never had a good experience with my Cannon Power Shot and the downloading of pictures to my computer. Never had the same Cannon download screen and the prompts. Couldn't easily locate the pictures in the computer. So after several bad experiences I finally just have a screen that gives me a question if I want to import these pictures. It's the only option I have to do something with the pictures. And I tried to do that and I got the whole thing to get hung up. When I got out of that mess, it said I wasn't set up to import. I hope you understand what I am trying to convey. Thank you, Judy
