This answer was rated:

My Kodak Easyshare software has stopped working. Not sure why. I can't access all my pictures I have stored in it and I can't find my frigging program disc. What can I do to retreive all my photos?
Hello and welcome, my name isXXXXX'm sorry to hear about your problem.

Are you using Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, or Mac?

If not sure, click HERE. On that page, under Operating system, it will say what you have.

How long ago did this issue first start?

We received this computer after my husband's grandma died last year. I transferred all my Kodak EasyShare photo's on to it and got rid of our antique desktop. However, I realized I couldn't stand her computer or Vista and bought a MacBook Pro this past April. So I have ignored this problem until now, when I wanted to see some of my pictures from 2010 and 2009. I believe the message about the software failing started this summer.

Thanks Chris, what we'll need to do is completely uninstall the Easyshare software, then reinstall it using the online driver.

Uninstalling the software will not delete your pictures, please see this article.

Click the Windows Start button > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program link > You'll see a listing of programs installed on your computer > Uninstall the Kodak Easyshare program listed there.

(You can also click the Windows Start button, and in the search box type appwiz.cpl and press enter, it will take you to the same listing of programs on your computer, from there you can uninstall the Kodak Easyshare program listed).

Once you've done that, please restart the computer. To make sure you can return to me and not anyone else or a new session, please favorite or bookmark this page, or you can check your emails from JustAnswer with my picture, in them will be a link to return to this exact page.

Then, download Kodak EasyShare program from the link below:

Press the link, then on the next page press the download link, and you can then save/run the install_easyshare.exe installation program.

Take your time and let me know what you find. I will keep working until you are satisfied, so you can reply back as much as you need. Please also remember a positive rating is the only way I'm paid for my work, so once you feel I have answered all your question(s) satisfactorily please remember to submit one below.

Thank you,

I kept getting the error messages:

Web download timeout experienced. Please try installation again. Kodak ES unable to finish task. Error coed (20x100x404x). Set up not able to complete requested tasks. And it goes around and around with these messages asking me if I'd like to try and reinstall.

I HATE Vista!!!!! That's why I got a Mac. I just want my pictures. HELP!!!

I'm sorry to hear this - did you completely uninstall the program, and restart the computer, before trying to reinstall the file I sent you?

Thanks for getting back to me Chris

Are you getting this error aftertry to open the setup file called install_easyshare.exe?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I ran the installation of the EasyShare software, thought it was installed. It then asks "Do you want to continue to run this software?" Yes. States "A program needs your permission to contine." Continue. Goes to Install Wizard. I click Start, Accept terms, Install. Then the message with the error code comes up. Asks "Would you like to go on-line to look for a solution?" Yes. I then found this answer to my error code. "As of 9/5/12 Koday EasyShare software is no longer available as a download. You can continue using ES software that is already installed on your computer. We regret any inconvenience to you." Well, I just uninstalled the software.

Ah ok, this is coming up when you try to run the program.

Please uninstall the program again, one last time.

Then, download and install the 'clear utility'

Install it and run it as shown on that page. Then restart the computer once more.

Temporarily disable your antivirus software, and then open the 'install_Easyshare' program again and reinstall.

If it still won't run correctly - please download and install Picassa at the link below:

And see if it shows your pictures ok.

I just found my Kodak ES software. Should I try to reinstall it before trying your last suggestion?

Ok good. Just to make sure, please uninstall the software first, and use the clear tool I sent, and restart, then you can try installing the Kodak ES software you found.
