Unfortunately what you have described indicates that there is a problem with the LCD or the connection to it thats why you are facing this type of problem. So please contact Canon service center because this type of LCD screen replacing or repairing is not possible at your home.I apologize for this inconvenience.
Why would this happen all of a sudden. Could it be that a small amount of water got on the camera. - a glass of water spilled around it but it didn't hardly get wet.
Also I have some pictures that mean a lot to me in the camera. If there's a problem with the camera could the pictures be hurt?
Actually, this is happen due to water. On the other hand your pictures are all save in your memory card. When you will send it to service center then remove the memory card from your camera.
Could water hurt the memory card. If so could it be repaired.
It's strange because the rest of the camera acts fine. It even acts like it is taking pictures when I push that button.
I think your memory card was not hurt. Please remove your memory card and test it another camera.
