Customer Question

I have an Olympus E-300 Evolt. The camera can't read my Flash Cards (Card Error). When I hook up through a card reader is says the card is not formatted. Never had that message before. I went to Walmart and their digital photo machines can see and open the photos.

Optional Information:
Make: Olympus
Model: Evolt E-300

Already Tried:
Tried and retried with the camera with two different Compact Flash disks. Reads Card Error. Tried card reader and get message "You need to format card in drive F.

Hi there and welcome to Just Answer. I'm sorry to hear about your camera. I will try and give you an accurate and precise answer.

Can you tell me the brand and the size (in Mb or Gb) of the card(s).

Did these ever work in the camera?

Customer replied 342 days and 16 hours ago.

SanDisk 4GB and Dane-Elec1GB. Both have worked fine for years on this camera. It seems hard to put the disks into the camera like I have to push hard. In the card reader it is easy like before. At Walmart it was fine.

Get a flashlight and shine it into the memory card slot in the camera (with the card out of course).

Do you see any obstruction or bent pins in the slot?

Customer replied 342 days and 16 hours ago.

One can go blind looking at those tiny pins! There is a pin that is bent. I wonder why the card reader which look okay is not reading it though.

The bent pin is the problem. It is supposed to make contact with one of the pins of the memory card.

If it isn't, then it won't work.

Now, you really need to leave this up to a professional as you can easily snap that pin off.

I am not affiliated with them but I would use www.unitedcamera.com They are reasonable and do good work.

I'll be here if you need more help. I want you to be 100% satisfied with my answer.
