Cannon Power Shot A560. Batteries are discharging in one week to ten days when it is not being used. It is as if there is a leak or short someplace. Does this mean I have a throwaway or can it be repaired? It is a great camera and I would like to keep using it. George
Hi. I am Rick. I will be your Printer Professional.
Your thoughts are right as to it seeming like a leak. This is exactly what it is. Inside the camera there are control boards that regulate the actions of the camera. One of them is a power control board and it regulates the power use by way of tiny diodes that block power from draining out. One of the diodes on your camera is bad and this is allowing the power to "leak" out. The bad part of this is on those type cameras the cost of repairing this board is going to be almost as much as the cost of a new amera, and that is if you can find a shop that will do it. Most will not because of the cost. So I guess you could say it can be fixed but it would not make much sense to do it. Sorry.
