My Nikon COOLPIX S9100 turns on, but does not respond to anything

Customer Question

My Nikon COOLPIX S9100 turns on, but does not respond to anything after that. It says that the flash is lowered. It won't take a picture, or react to any button that I push.

Julian :

Hello Sir & welcome to JustAnswer. I am happy to answer your question.

Julian :

Sir, Turn off the camera and took the memory card out. Then turn on and see the camera working with out inserting the memory card or not. If yes then format the memory card from the computer and then insert that in camera and start using.
If not working with out the memory card then took the battery put and sit the camera for 3 hours. After 3 hours insert the battery and memory card then turn on the camera. After that Let me know the result. Thank you.

DId not work. Now there is a faint clicking sound. I should have mentioned before....that the camera will not even shut off. I take the battery out to turn it off.

Julian :

Try to change the mode Dial and set that in M or Auto. Then turn on the camera and see the same problem going on or any thing change. Please let me know.

JACUSTOMER-btl8pcal- :

It no longer says that the flash is lowered. But it is still totally non-responsive. I had to take the battery out to turn it off.

Julian :

Now try to Reset the camera setting / Factory Reset without inserting the memory card. After Finishing the Resetting insert the memory card & turn on the camera. Now see any changes or not.

JACUSTOMER-btl8pcal- :

I took out the memory card, and turned on the power. It still is non-responsive. I am pretty sure that I have not reset anything.

Julian :

If you not reset any thing then after turn on the camera press the menu button and go insetting option. From there you can reset the camera. Please try to reset & let me know the result.

JACUSTOMER-btl8pcal- :

When I turn the camera on, the menu button is non-responsive.....nothing happens when I push any button

Julian :

As per your given information i can say this a camera firmware fault or the circuit board some how short. Your camera need servicing. I suggest you to visit any nikon camera service center for servicing. The cost not more than 50$. Thank you.
