My Canon IXUS 105 often has "lens error, restart camera", but this time it won't restart. The lens is stuck open. I turn it on and get the red canon picture but then it beeps several times and I get the "lens error" message. Help?? The camera is just over one year old and has been wonderful thus far.
Optional Information: Make: Canon PowerShot SD1300IS Model: IXUS105 Already Tried: Not a lot I can do....just keep shutting it off and turning it back on. I recharged the battery just in case....made no difference.
The cameras that have moving lens are bad about this. The gears are small as is the motor. When the lens gets dirty the motor cannot move it. The only thing that you can do is look at the lens and see if it is tilted to the side. If it is and since it is out of warranty you can either attempt to correct this by hand by either forcing it straight or send it into a repair center. I am sorry

Get a q-tip and some alcohol and with the lens open clean around it really well where it retracts into the opening. Best of luck and thank you for choosing Just Answer
