How Can I Get Pictures I Took With My Samsung Sch-u370 On To My Pc?

Readyrmca :

Hi there. My name is XXXXX XXXXX it would be my pleasure to help with your issue.

Readyrmca :

If you connect your phone to your computer using the supplied USB cable, do you get any prompt from the camera to set it to USB or Mass storage mode?

Customer:

Hi, No, no prompt...

Readyrmca :

Ok. Did you get any kind of indication from the computer that the phone was connected. (beep/autorun window)

Customer:

No, it only starts to attempt to download things from my PC music library onto the phone, y'know - the phone starts connecting w/ internet. I did download something onto my PC earlier though when I hooked the two up. A program from samsung.com - forget the name of it.

Readyrmca :

Ok. According to the Samsung website from what I could see it seems like you have to remove the card from your phone and use a card reader to get the pics off the card. I have a Samsung Galaxy, and when I connect mine it asks me if I want to set it to mass storage mode.

Readyrmca :

have you tried going to My computer and see if a removable disk shows up there

Customer:

No removable disk showing up - but I have no file labelled 'my computer' on my PC. It may go by another name on my gateway pc?

Readyrmca :

Is it windows 7

Customer:

windows vista...card reader is not an easy option I would assume????

Readyrmca :

in vista it would just be called computer instead of my computer. To get to it you would go to the windows icon at the bottom then select computer from the list on the right.

Readyrmca :

The card reader would be the easiest way to do it. You can get a card reader at most any store that sells electronics for around $10 US

Readyrmca :

Then your card would show up in computer as a removable disk for sure.

Customer:

aaaaarrrrggghhh...i shoulda found this out before going on vacation i suppose - though verizon rep. told me i could do it w/ a usb cord (???)

Readyrmca :

Did you check in computer to be sure that it wasn't showing up there. Also, check your laptop. There is the possibility that your laptop has an SD card reader built in

Customer:

all that shows in 'computer' is OS and D drive/cd drive...

Customer:

though on the laptop characteristics sticker it shows 'multi-in-1 card reader' ...

Readyrmca :

Ok. then you do have a card reader built in

Readyrmca :

Did you phone have the card installed when you bought it, or did you install the memory card?

Readyrmca :

There should have been an adapter with either the phone when you bought it or the card. The card in your phone is a micro SD card. The slot in the computer will most likely only accept an SD card, so you will have to remove the card from the phone and insert it into the SD card adapter.

Customer:

I have no adapter with me that came w/phone. the card was installed when i bought the phone. are you saying there is an outlet on the phone that will accept card as is?

Readyrmca :

The phone uses a Micro SD. The computer will only accept a standard SD. In the box with the phone when you bought it should have been an adapter to put the micro SD card in so that it could be read in a standard SD card slot like the one in your computer.

Customer:

I am s.o.l. then as box is in US, I am in Italy....

Readyrmca :

You should be able to get a Micro card adapter for almost nothing. They cost about $2 in the US. Any store that sells electronics in Italy will have the card adapters

Readyrmca :

I'm not sure of the price over there

Customer:

okay, i'll try that tomorrow. midnight here now though...i did open phone tho and only saw the battery, no card which could be removed....

Readyrmca :

It's usually in the side of the phone under a tab.

Readyrmca :

It could be that your phone doesn't have a card in it at all and the pictures that you've taken are in the internal memory of the phone. If that's the case, then you'll have to get a card to transfer the images to before you can move them to your computer. You cannot move pictures from the internal memory of the phone to a computer

Readyrmca :

The card slot is on the side of the phone under a tab that should be labeled micro SD

Readyrmca :

If there's no card in the slot then you will have to get one before you can transfer your images to your computer.

Readyrmca :

Hope this helps. Please don't forget to accept and leave positive feedback if I've been helpful. Thanks!!!

Customer:

ok, thanks...
