I have a sony dcr-hc32 mini dv cam. The touch screen is not working, completely non-responsive. I have tried a few weird things on line like removing the battery and powering it up in the dock, etc. Nothing works. If it is cost effective I would like to get it fixed. Rotating the screen does not help either, like I said completely unresponsive. Everything else seems to work just fine. If I hook the cam to my mac it responds to all commands via the firewire cable and a video capture software like final cut. So I think this is isolated to the screen itself. Thanks!

Try pressing the [Reset] button shown on page 26 of the user manual to initialize the camera. If you do not have the manual handy you can download a pdf copy at the link below. Already tried that, but thanks! Now it asks me for new date and time, and of course I cannot tell it because the touch screen is not responding ;)

Thanks! I ran calibration and the x does respond to touch, but it will not leave this cycle, hitting cancel does not leave calibration cycle, then turning off camera after calibration and then touchscreen test still fails. So still stuck.
Unfortunately, all of the other service modes require additional sony test equipment to use the full service modes, so the calibration mode is as far a we can go.
