Resolved Question:

I have a Canon XL1S. The camera eats video tape. We tried two tapes in camera to record something and it would crush the tapes as soon as we started the camera. Gerald F. [email protected]

Hello and thank you for choosing Just answer.com My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be assisting you today.

I found an interesting thread regarding this problem on DVINFO.net that I'd like to share with you:
http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/long-black-line/258-new-xl1-s-eating-tape.html

This seems to be a common issue with this model recorder. Some found that it was just with Panasonic tape that the issue occured, others in didn't seem to matter which brand, but it does seem to be a repair issue.

You can access Canon repair through their website at:
https://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=OnlineRepairBookingAct

or, if you would like to supply your zip code, I would be happy to assist you in finding an authorized technician in your area so that you can work with someone in person.
