My dog is 15+ years old and is having very runny, bloody

Customer Question

My dog is 15+ years old and is having very runny, bloody stool. Can I safely give her Kaopectate, and if so, what dosage?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the dog's name?
Customer: Addie (for sweet Adeline).
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Addie?
Customer: Everything else seems normal and I see no other symptoms.

I am sorry to hear you are worried about sweet Adeline. Is she eating? Any vomiting?

Yes, you can give Kaopectate to dogs. How much does she weigh?

Expert:  Rebecca replied 4 months ago.

Kaopectate can turn the stools black so don't be alarmed if that happens. You can give 1 teaspoon per 20 to 40 pounds of body weight 2 to 3 times daily. If you tell me her weight I can give you the right dose.

I have not heard back from you; I hope you were able to see my response. How is Addie doing?
