what causes beak overgrowth in box turtles?

Thank you for your question, I'm Dr. Dan and I'll try to help you.

Generally there are multiple possible causes of beak overgrowth in box turtles. Many times they are simple born with jaws that don't line up properly and therefore the beak grows abnormally. The next possibility is a misalignment of the jaw because of an injury or trauma. Improper calcium levels can cause deformities in the jaw causing beak overgrowth and occasionally feeding foods that are consistently too soft can cause this issue as well.

I hope this helps, if not please feel free to ask more questions.
