Welcome to Just Answer.
My name is Rebecca, I am a veterinarian, and will do my best to help you.
Apart from these abnormal lab numbers, is she sick? Why were the blood tests run?
no very healthy, alert , good appetite
An Alk Phos of 255 is not very high in a 9 year old dog. I have seen Alk Phos as high as 12,000!
But a GGT of 21 is high.
What should I do?
I always remember being told in vet school to treat the dog, not numbers on a piece of paper.
If she is healthy, not losing weight or drinking more water than usual, no vomiting and diarrhea, then I might just recheck those enzymes in a few weeks, to see if they are going up, or down.
I would try a liver supplement called milk thistle.
I might also consider doing a test called bile acids, that measure liver function.
Thank I will do that.Where can I get Supplemeny?
Sorry I am a bad typer
Any supplement store, natural food store, health food store, will carry milk thistle.
I am a bad typer, too.
Just give about half the adult human dose.
Thanks going to get it right now
If she loses her appetite, or loses weight, or vomits, then I would do more tests.
Is there anything else I can answer about her?
My goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you feel you have received anything less, please reply as I am happy to answer follow-up questions. Kindly rate me when you are done.
she dosent do any of the above.
Then I would not be at all worried about an Alk Phos of 255, but I would recheck that GGT in a few weeks.
You are welcome.
Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.
