Welcome to JustAnswer! I am a licensed veterinarian and specialist and will do my best to assist you today! Is there evidence of stomach upset with vomiting or diarrhea? Is she a thin body weight? A normal body weight? Is she lethargic or sick in any other way?-
no evidence of illness, normal weight- very timid anxious, noy used to human contact (back ground rescued from a house with 50 other dogs)
Excellent!I have seen man cases over the years where the dog is rescued, comes into the new home, and there are a comination of factors including the change of diet as well as anxiety which limits their interest in food. With that in mind, it would be best to use only a balanced commercial dog. This is well balanced for vitamins and minerals which a dog needs. As they get used to the new family and new house, this is going to get easier over time, but like anything in in life - you need to train them, food too!Typically here we start with a mixture of what they will eat, and the diet you want thme to eat - a balance of the two.Over 1-2 weeks as they get used to the mixture, gradually reduce the improper diet and increase the commercial diet until they are only eating the commercial diet.I hope this helps!
