My dog has been urinating while walking around the house when we have company over. He has had tests done and there is nothing medicallt wrong. The problem is getting worse and he will urinate up to 6 six times a day. We have tried restricitng his water prior to visits and not letting him in until he has urinated while company is over. We are at the point of surrendering him to a rescue. Any advice would be of great help.

Hello, I am Dr. Peter a licensed Veterinarian. I would like to help. I need to ask you a few questions to be well informed and give you the best advice. There is no additional charge for information request.1- Does he urinate when the guest pet him or approach him?
No. He will just walk and urinate. Most of the time we catch it just when he is done or we notice the trail.
So basically, it is voluntary urination like marking?
Thats what it seems like but instead of a puddle or him lifting his leg he just walks
Is the urine dripping while he is walking?
No, it is the same type of stream as when he is squating during normal urination
I am going to opt out and allow other experts to comment. I am sorry. Please, do not respond to this so the question is open to other experts and does not come back to me.

Hi. I'm Dr. Gotthelf. I have been a vet for 33 years and I would like to use my experience to help you with your pet's medical problem. If this is a behavioral problem I have 2 suggestions for you. First, ask your vet for a drug called phenylpropanolamine. It is named PROIN. That will make it very difficult for him to initiate the urination process, as it constricts the urethral muscle. Second, if this is a constant problem , ask your vet to prescribe doggie prozac, generic fluoxetine, for the dog. It is likely that he is frightened or excited by the company and that will settle him down so he won't react like that. Prozac can take 3-4 weeks of daily medication for it to have any effect.
