Optional Information: Type of Animal: Rabbit Gender: Female Age: unknown Name of Animal: Olive Already Tried: Nothing because not sure what to do.
Hello!Thank you for your question, I'm Dr. Dan and I'll try to help you.Can you describe what kind of noises she is making? Dr. Dan
I'm not sure how to describe it but she makes the noise from her mouth and it's like she is, in a way, quacking.
Does it sound like she's grinding her teeth? If not does the quacking sound like it's timed with her breathing? Is she eating?Dr. Dan
Yea it is timed with her breathing and she is eating. but she only eats carrots from my hand.
Couple more questions....How long has this been going on?Is she sneezing?Does it look like the fur right under her nose is wet or crusted?Dr. Dan
The fur under and around her nose is wet and this started in the last 24 hours. Also her back and front legs are wet. There are droppings stuck to her fur near her rear end.
Thanks for the information. It sounds like she he a viral or bacterial upper respiratory infection. This can come on for many different reasons. Rabbits stop or slow their eating when they get stuffed up or sick with almost anything. What you need to do right now is to is put her in a bathroom with a hot shower running and have her breathe in the steam for 5-10 minutes. To try to entice her to eat, provide vegetable or fruit baby food. Tomorrow have her see the vet he'll need antibiotics right away as rabbits with respiratory infections are notorious for getting fatal pneumonia not too long after the respiratory infection begins if you are really scared because she doesn't want to move to urinate or defecate then an emergency visit tonight is not wrong. She's kind of on the cusp of a possible emergency. I hope this helps, best wishes.Dr. Dan
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!
You are welcome good luck to both of you!
