Hello, I am Dr. Peter a licensed Veterinarian. I would like to help. I need to ask you a few questions to be well informed and give you the best advice. There is no additional charge for information request.

1- Besides urinating blood, any other symptoms?
2- Is he on any medications?
3- Any pre existing medical conditions?
4- Is he drinking more than usual?

Customer replied 315 days and 22 hours ago.

No other symptoms. I thought maybe it had to due to the very hot humid weather we had today.

The bloody urine is Not because of the hot weather. Common causes for bloody urine in a male dog are: Urethritis (inflammation of the urethra), infections, bladder stones, kidney and prostate disease. To determine exactly which of the above is the exact underlying cause your dog will need to have a urinalysis, xrays and +/-blood work by your family veterinarian. Treatment will be determined by clinical and diagnostic findings. Unfortunately, nothing I can recommend for you to try at home. As long as he is urinating even if it is bloody it is not an emergency, follow up with family veterinarian. But, if he is unable to urinate have him checked immediately by ER veterinarian.

Hope the above helps, if you have additional questions I will be glad to answer them.
