Dr. Andy :

Welcome! I would be happy to assist you. I am a 2003 graduate from UC Davis and a Medical Director of a veterinarian practice.

Dr. Andy :

I am sorry to hear about these concerns.

Dr. Andy :

Eyes are funny? Please explain what you are seeing

Dr. Andy :

Also, how old is your kitty?

Customer :

She just sleeping all day, without energy, no vomiting or diahrea

Dr. Andy :

please hit reply so I can see what you have typed so far

Dr. Andy :

what about the eyes?

Dr. Andy :

how old is she?

Dr. Andy :

for how long has she been only eating a little?

Customer :

She just turn one.

Today, she changed a lot her normal behavior

Dr. Andy :

her eyes?

Customer :

Her eyes- the pupil is very big and seems no focus, lack interest

Dr. Andy :

Okay.

Dr. Andy :

Very concerning. What you could be describing suggest possible viral disease like feline leukemia, FIV, or FIP. I am also worried about organ problems.

Dr. Andy :

Even if no vomiting or diarrhea, that is not much of a surprise if really not eating.

Dr. Andy :

Loss of appetite is a big red flag in cats. Why?

Dr. Andy :

When a cat goes just a few days without eating properly, they break down their fat. We would all do it. But, cats place fat into the liver causing much more severe illness called hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver syndrome).

Dr. Andy :

So, got to act now and not delay. We know there is something systemic (internal) that is causing this combination of symptoms.

Dr. Andy :

Unfortunately, we can't narrow down the cause without a veterinary examination and some basic testing.

Dr. Andy :

Even a urinary tract infection can cause symptoms like this...

Dr. Andy :

I would start with a vet exam to see what they can find out.

Dr. Andy :

Testing should probably include at least a basic blood and urine test.

Dr. Andy :

What can tests tell you:

Dr. Andy :

A feline basic blood test (with a thyroid level) and a urine test (urinalysis) may answer a lot of concerns, or at least rule-out many possible explanations.

Dr. Andy :

Chemistry Panel

Dr. Andy :

Urinalysis

Dr. Andy :

CBC (complete blood count)

Dr. Andy :

Also, can't really "force" her to drink, so she will dehydrate quickly. The vet can help by either starting some intravenous fluids, or just giving some under the skin to keep her hydrated.

Dr. Andy :

If you noticed, I kept asking about the eyes!

Dr. Andy :

The eyes can often be a early indicator of problems like viral disease or other sickness.

Dr. Andy :

Well worth the vet visit, today, since the change in behavior, eyes, appetite, and thirst is so sudden.

Dr. Andy :

Good Luck
